FAQ

    What is domain backordering?

    Domain backordering is a service that allows you to request a domain name that is currently registered but may become available in the future. If the domain expires and is not renewed by the current registrant, the service attempts to register it on your behalf as soon as it becomes available. This process is commonly known as drop-catching.

    How does domain backordering work?

    When you place a backorder, we monitor the domain for expiration and availability. If the current registrant does not renew the domain and it becomes available, we automatically attempt to register it on your behalf.

    The process involves:

    • placing a backorder request;
    • monitoring the domain’s availability;
    • attempting to secure the domain as soon as it becomes available for registration.

    How will I know if my backorder is successful?

    We will notify you by email when you place a backorder. You can also check the status of your backorders by signing in to your account on our website.

    What domains can I backorder through your service?

    You can backorder .UK domain names, including .co.uk, .uk, .org.uk, and .me.uk.

    How much does it cost?

    You can place backorders for free. We only charge if we successfully register the domain name on your behalf. The minimum backorder price is £39 (inclusive of VAT where applicable).

    If we secure the domain and multiple backorders exist, an auction automatically determines the winner and the clearing price in accordance with the auction rules. If your backorder is the only one, you pay the minimum price.

    Can multiple users backorder the same domain name?

    Yes. When you place a backorder, you set your maximum bid. If multiple users backorder the same domain and we successfully secure it, an auction determines the winner.

    If only one user backorders the domain, it is awarded immediately without an auction at the minimum backorder price of £39.

    Is success guaranteed when backordering a domain?

    Unfortunately, no. Competition among numerous domain backordering services, sophisticated automated systems, and factors such as network latency and server response times introduce uncertainty. We use advanced technology and techniques to maximise your chances, but success can never be guaranteed.

    How do I transfer my domain to my registrar?

    Once you have secured a domain, you can transfer it to your preferred registrar from your user dashboard. If you need assistance, contact our Support team.

    Domains are registered in the name of Domain Parachute at the time of registration. After transfer, the registrant details remain unchanged, and you are responsible for updating them with your new registrar.

    What IPS (Internet Provider Security) tag do you use?

    We register domains using the tag PARACHUTE.
