FAQ

    What is domain backordering?

Domain backordering is a service that allows you to place a reservation on a domain name that is currently taken but might become available in the future. When the domain expires and is not renewed by the current owner, the backordering service will attempt to register it on your behalf as soon as it becomes available.

    How does domain backordering work?

When you backorder a domain name, the backordering service monitors the domain for expiration and availability. If the domain is not renewed by the current owner and becomes available, the service will automatically attempt to register it for you. The process involves:

    • Placing a backorder request.
    • Monitoring the domain’s availability.
    • Attempting to secure the domain as soon as it becomes available to register.

How do I know if I successfully secured a backordered domain?

Once a backordered domain name has been registered, you will be notified by email. You can also check the status of your backorders by signing into your account on our website.

What domains can I backorder through your service?

You can backorder UK domains (.co.uk, .uk, .org.uk, .me.uk) using our service.

    How much does it cost?

We charge no upfront costs to place domain backorders, and we charge a fee of £39 plus VAT for each successful domain registration. VAT is charged at the local rate of 20%.

Can multiple users backorder the same domain name?

No. Our service only allows domain backorders on a first-come, first-served basis.

Are there any guarantees of successfully catching a domain with a backordering service?

Unfortunately, no. Competition among numerous domain backordering services, the use of sophisticated automated systems, and factors like network latency and server response times introduce uncertainty. Our service uses advanced technology and techniques to maximize your chances, but success is never guaranteed.

I've caught a domain - how do I transfer it to my registrar?

It’s important to understand this information to avoid potential issues with other registrars. If you have any questions, please contact our Support team, and we’ll guide you through the process.

Once we register a domain, the registrant details will be listed under Domain Parachute.

If you wish to transfer the registrant and release the domain to a new registrar simultaneously, you may use Nominet’s Registrant Transfer service, which incurs an additional fee payable directly to Nominet. For full details on costs and procedures, please visit Nominet's transfer page.

Alternatively, you can choose to release the domain to another registrar without changing the registrant details. It will then be your responsibility to update the registrant details through your new registrar.

Once a domain is released, Domain Parachute will no longer have any control over the domain.

What Internet Provider Security (IPS) tag do you use?

We register domain names using the tag PARACHUTE.
